Sportsdepotet.no is an online store for fishing gear and complete fishing sets — started as a sports shop in Bergen in 1995, today run from Sande in Vestfold under Flyin AS.
Unlike most online stores, Sportsdepotet doesn't run on WooCommerce or Shopify. The entire purchase flow is built from scratch by Flyin itself, with Next.js and Sanity — giving full control over speed and usability instead of adapting to an off-the-shelf platform's limitations.
The range is put together by people who actually fish: complete sets for freshwater, sea trout, boat fishing, ice fishing, fly fishing and family packages for kids, alongside running gear. "Stangbyggeren" (the Rod Builder) lets customers put together a custom fishing rod.

Why did you build a custom store instead of using Shopify?
Because we want to own the entire purchase flow ourselves. With Next.js and Sanity as our own codebase, we aren't bound by a platform's speed ceiling, themes or transaction fees — we control performance and usability completely.
What is "Stangbyggeren" (the Rod Builder)?
A tool on the site where you assemble your own custom fishing rod piece by piece, instead of choosing among fixed standard models.
